The Gallery
What are the opening hours of the Daniel Maghen Gallery?
The Daniel Maghen Gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. These hours may vary depending on events organized by the gallery (private viewings, exhibition openings, signing sessions, exhibition installation).
What types of products are offered on danielmaghen.com?
The Daniel Maghen Gallery is dedicated to promoting the 9th Art and offers original works from the world of comic books and illustration. You will mainly find original comic book pages from the Franco-Belgian and international scenes, illustrations, paintings, comics, and three-dimensional works (bronzes, sculptures, volumes, etc.).
Can I come with my children?
The gallery is suitable for children: you will find works by artists for younger audiences that are sure to delight them. Feel free to browse our thematic "youth" works. Our team is available to guide you toward the most suitable pieces.
Works intended for an adult audience and likely to offend younger viewers are kept separate and out of their sight. We ask that you remain vigilant: artworks and presentation books may only be viewed in the presence of an accompanying adult.
Is the gallery accessible to people with reduced mobility?
Yes, the gallery is accessible to people with reduced mobility (access ramp, adapted doors and restrooms).
How can I consult your general terms and conditions of sale?
Our general terms and conditions of sale can be consulted on the General Terms and Conditions of Sale page.
How can I contact customer service?

Our exhibitions
Are the Daniel Maghen Gallery exhibitions suitable for all audiences?
Our exhibitions aim to showcase the work of various artists from the world of comic books and illustration. Some events may therefore include erotic works or content unsuitable for certain audiences.
Before attending an exhibition, we recommend learning about the work of the artist(s) being exhibited. Our team is available to advise you ahead of your visit and guide you during our events.
What is the Daniel Maghen Gallery's exhibition program?
To find out about our exhibition program, visit the Exhibitions page. You can also subscribe to our newsletter to receive all information about upcoming events.
Is there an entrance fee for exhibitions?
The Daniel Maghen Gallery seeks to promote comic books and illustration to the widest possible audience; our exhibitions are therefore completely free and open to all. In case of high attendance, a queue may be put in place to comply with the legally required safety capacity of our premises.
Work for sale
What is the budget for a work of art?
Each artist has a market value that influences the price of their works on the art market. However, the gallery offers works by many artists that are accessible to all budgets. You can find works for under €100, while others may exceed several thousand euros. During your search, feel free to use the sliders on our price scale to target results matching a specific budget.
Some works are very expensive - why?
The artworks sold by the Daniel Maghen Gallery are unique original creations. The rarity of these pieces gives them a certain value on the art market. Some historic artists (Hergé, Franquin, Peyo, Jacobs, Morris) or emblematic figures of the 9th Art (Bilal, Giraud, Jijé, Gibrat, Juillard, Rosinski, etc.) have built a strong market value over the years. The strength of their market value, combined with the rarity of their pages, makes these works exceptional pieces.
If you would like information about an author's market value, feel free to consult the "Gallery's opinion" section available on many works.
Why do works by the same artist have different prices?
The value of works, whether comic pages or illustrations, depends on several factors. In the case of a comic page, the most highly valued pieces are those featuring the main character, refined paneling and inking, or a key moment in the album. The value of an illustration depends on the graphic quality of the work and its composition. Album covers are among the most expensive pieces.
What is the difference between a comic page and an illustration?
The term "page" refers to a page in a comic book album. A page is an integral part of the story and is structured according to precise conventions: panels and speech balloons intended for text insertion. An illustration is an independent work that does not follow specific structural conventions. It may include, among other things, album covers or illustrations for children's books.
Ordering a work
I need advice about a product - who should I contact?

How do I place an order?
- Log in to your user account.
If you do not have an account, you can create one via the Create an account page. Having an account is essential to place an order on our site: it allows you to pay for your purchases online via secure payment, track your orders and shipments.
- Select the products that interest you and add them to your cart.
Please note: given the rarity of the works offered for sale, your cart has a limited lifespan. Without any action on your part (adding, removing, or validating the cart), the works in it will be made available for sale again.
- Validate your cart.
Once you have finished shopping, go to your cart to choose your delivery and payment method and finalize your order.
An item I had placed in my cart has disappeared
Given the rarity of the works offered for sale, your cart is limited to 15 minutes. Without any action on your part (adding, removing a piece, or validating the cart), the works in it will be made available for sale again.
Are the works shown available for sale?
Our site only offers works that are available for sale. When a work is placed in a cart by one user, it can no longer be purchased online by another person.
What payment methods are available?
Several payment methods are available:
- Secure online payment (bank card, excluding American Express)
- PayPal
- Bank transfer
- Check (France only)
- Cash, up to €1,000 per order. This ceiling is raised to €15,000 if your tax residence is outside the European Union and you are paying for a personal expense.
Bank details are never stored, regardless of the payment method chosen. Please note that the payment method chosen will affect the shipping time of your order.
I can't complete payment for my order
If a payment fails, our site allows you to try again after checking your banking information. If the problem persists, feel free to select "Check" or "Bank transfer" as the payment method in order to validate your order: no immediate payment will be requested. Contact our team by phone or via our contact form, indicating the payment method you wish to use; our team will contact you and process your order manually. In the meantime, the works will be reserved in your name and can no longer be purchased by another customer.
How can I get my invoice?
All our invoices are prepared by our accounting firm 5 to 10 days after the end of your payment process and after the funds have been received in our bank account. Some payment methods therefore result in a longer invoice processing time: this is the case for checks and cash payments, which require a bank deposit before they can be processed.
Feel free to contact our customer service via our contact form, indicating your order number, so that we can send you your invoice as quickly as possible.
I want to cancel my order
You have a legal 14-calendar-day withdrawal period from the date of receipt of your order. In the event of a return, however, shipping costs and the packaging of the works remain your responsibility. Returned works must be protected in such a way as to preserve their original condition. Please note that your refund will only be made once the product has been received and its condition checked. In the event of depreciation, you may be held liable. For more information, consult our General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
Are the works sold framed?
During our events, works are displayed in presentation frames that are not intended for sale. Some pieces are exceptions, however: paintings mounted in floating frames or works with specific packaging. The cost of such specific framing is included in the sale price. In the event of shipping, any work will systematically be unframed in order to guarantee the safety of the piece during transport. If you would like one of your purchases framed, we will be happy to recommend one of our trusted partners.
I own works and would like to offer them for sale in your gallery.
If you would like to put one of your works up for sale, contact the sales department via our contact form, adding a description of your item (artist, series, page number, date of creation, provenance, etc.). Our sales department will get back to you as soon as possible.

Delivery
What is the difference between a delivery address and a billing address?
The delivery address is used for shipping your products. You may save several delivery addresses in your customer account and choose whichever one you want when placing your order.
The billing address is the one that appears on your invoice.
What do shipping fees cover?
Shipping fees include both shipping costs and secure packaging prepared by our team.
How will my items be packaged for shipment?
All our works are shipped flat, in secure and reinforced packaging designed to prevent any bending or damage to your items. Our shipments are insured and delivered by hand against signature.
Our packaging consists of multiple protective layers: tissue paper in contact with the work, a plastic sleeve against moisture, a medium board for rigidity, a cardboard overlay against impacts, and two cardboard sleeves.
Each package is prepared by hand by our shipping department to ensure the safety of your order.
Large or fragile pieces may be subject to special delivery arrangements handled by a carrier (Paris intramuros and neighboring departments only) or by DHL (France, European Union, and worldwide).
What is the shipping time for my parcel?
Please note that our shipping time is between 10 and 12 days after receipt of payment for your order and depending on the carrier chosen. This period takes into account receipt of your payment and may be longer in the case of payment by check.
To ensure the best parcel tracking, we do not ship on Saturdays.
Which countries do you deliver to?
We deliver to all countries in zones 1 to 8 according to the Colissimo and DHL rate grids.
If in doubt, feel free to contact our customer service to make sure delivery to your country is possible.
Can I have my order shipped to another address?
You may save several addresses in your customer account. Once saved, simply select the address to which you would like your order delivered when placing your order. No delivery may be made to a P.O. box or poste restante address.
How can I track my parcel?
Your tracking number will be available in your customer account under My Orders.
Can customs fees apply?
For any delivery outside the European Union, customs duties, local taxes, or import fees may be requested by the authorities of the destination country. These charges remain the responsibility of the customer. We invite you to check the amount of these taxes with the authorities in your region. For shipments outside French territory and the European Union, the gallery applies an exemption from French VAT amounting to 5.5% so that you do not pay customs-related charges twice.
VAT exemption
Business customers
For purchases made on behalf of a company, you will be asked to complete your billing address with a SIRET number and an intra-community VAT number. These details will enable us to send you an invoice as proof of your company's purchases.
Orders placed outside the European Union
For any order shipped outside France and the European Union, a VAT exemption is applied when placing your order on the Daniel Maghen Gallery website. This exemption corresponds to 5.5% of the price of the works.
Example: for a standard-format work sold for €1,500 and shipped to England, the final price will be €1,421.80, to which shipping fees are added.
This VAT reduction only applies in the case of shipment. If you choose to collect your work from the gallery, French taxes will remain payable, since the handover of your order takes place on French territory.
I have paid for my order and it still has not been shipped.
If you sent a check, made a bank transfer, or paid online and have not received your order within the period stated in the general terms and conditions of sale, please contact our customer service via our contact form or by phone at +33 (0)1 42 84 37 39.
Delivery of my parcel is taking longer than expected - why?
Several factors may affect the delivery time of your items:
You purchased a work during an exhibition
The order will be shipped at the end of the exhibition in order to provide the best visibility for the artists' works during our events.
You purchased an oversized work
Works of exceptional size or created on a particular medium require specific handling that may affect shipping time (custom secure packaging, shipping by private carrier, etc.). The works concerned are identified on our website by the mention "Exceptional work".
You purchased a piece currently exhibited outside the gallery
The Daniel Maghen Gallery organizes numerous exhibition loans in France and abroad throughout the year. If one of the pieces in your order is part of one of these events, your shipment will take place once the exhibition has ended. All works loaned by the gallery are insured and carefully inspected upon departure and return to ensure they remain in perfect condition.
The carrier's processing time is longer than expected
Certain events beyond our control may affect delivery of your parcel by the carrier. For more information, please contact the carrier in question and provide your tracking number.
One or more products are missing from my order - what should I do?
First, check your order and the order confirmation email you received.
If you find that your order is incomplete, please contact our customer service via our contact form or by phone at +33 (0)1 42 84 37 39.
My parcel arrived damaged - what should I do?
Upon receiving your parcel, we ask you to carefully check the condition of both the outer and inner packaging.
If you notice any issues:
- Make sure to note your reservations on the carrier's delivery slip. Please note that the statement "subject to unpacking" has no legal value in the event of a claim.
- Take photos of all sides of the parcel, especially damaged areas.
- Open the parcel carefully while photographing any possible damage.
- Proceed in the same way with the artwork itself.
If your work is damaged, contact our customer service immediately via our contact form or by phone at +33 (0)1 42 84 37 39 to report the issue and send us your photos, as well as a copy of the delivery slip (DHL or Colissimo waybill) and the signed proof of delivery. You have 3 days after receipt of the parcel and after entering your reservations on the delivery slip to confirm them to the carrier by registered letter (Article L. 133-3 of the French Commercial Code). This step is mandatory in order to initiate a claim with the insurance provider of the carrier chosen for your shipment.
