Paul Echegoyen grew up in a village at the foot of the Pyrenees, captivated by the enchanting worlds of Studio Ghibli and Disney. After completing his scientific baccalaureate, he attended the Tarbes Academy of Drawing, where his teachers encouraged him to pursue art. In 2003, he moved to Paris to enroll at the École Supérieure d’Arts Graphiques (ESAG) Penninghen. From 2008 onward, he worked as a freelancer in animation and advertising, before publishing his first children’s book, Le Bal des échassiers (The Waders' Ball), written by Sébastien Perez and published by Éditions du Seuil in 2011. He made a notable foray into comic art in 2014, providing the artwork for Léonard & Salaï, alongside Benjamin Lacombe, published by Soleil, before illustrating Les Voyages de Gulliver – De Laputa au Japon (Gulliver's Travels – From Laputa to Japan) in 2020. Deeply inspired by nature since his childhood in the Pyrénées, he works mainly in traditional techniques, with his favorite themes being ecology, childhood and dreamlike imagery.
