The Daniel Maghen Gallery is proud to dedicate an exhibition to a monument of the 9th Art, the Rahan series by André Chéret and Roger Lécureux, with artworks never before seen on the market, from November 8 to December 3, 2022.
One of the most famous comic book heroes
This exhibition focuses on one of the most famous comic art heroes. Created in the late 1960s, the Rahan series has captivated several generations of readers, first appearing in the magazine Pif Gadget before being published in album form.
The exhibition features more than a hundred pieces—pages, covers, illustrations, and sketches—selected from among the finest preserved by the authors' family.
This will be an opportunity to admire Chéret's realistic drawing, the beauty of his inking, the dynamism of his lines, his mastery of contrasts in his play of light and shadow, as well as his bold compositions. Mammoths, dinosaurs, and other fantastic animals abound in his artworks, throughout Rahan's adventures. A true Proustian madeleine for comic art lovers, who will rediscover in these pages the adventure thrills of their youth.
