To ensure that your pages are kept in good condition, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the media used to produce them. Although Indian ink is a perennial material, the paper support may change when exposed to UV light. Note that watercolor plates require special attention, as this medium is particularly sensitive to light. Pieces containing pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made of pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity
Olivier Roman was born in Metz in 1953 and now lives in the south of France. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he was admitted at the age of 15. He began his career in 1971 by producing illustrations for advertising agencies. He revived the Harry Dickson series in 1992, with writer Richard D. Nolane. Together, they published 13 volumes with Éditions Soleil up until 2009 – a comic art adaptation of the adventures of the ‘American Sherlock Holmes’ created by Jean Ray. In 2013, he illustrated Les Fables de l’Humour (The Fables of Humor), a novel by Pierre Bordage, which the author adapted himself for this album. With writer Virginie Greiner, he produced volume 3 of the Rendez-vous avec X series focused on Mata Hari (published by Comix Buro) in 2019. This was followed by two volumes in the LesReines de sang (Queens of Blood) collection (published by Delcourt) centered on the historical figure of Roxelana, titled Roxelana la Joyeuse (Roxelana the Joyous), in 2020 and 2021.
