A cult comic art series, Blake and Mortimer was created by Belgian artist Edgar P. Jacobs in 1946. The series is set in a world of meticulously researched detective and espionage stories with a historical or scientific focus, blending realism, fantasy and science fiction. The series was revived after his death in 1987, first by Bob de Moor, then with scripts by Jean Van Hamme, Didier Convard, Yves Sente, Jean Dufaux, François Rivière, José-Louis Bocquet and Jean-Luc Fromental, and artwork by Ted Benoit, André Juillard, René Sterne, Chantal De Spiegeleer, Antoine Aubin, Étienne Schréder, François Schuiten, Peter van Dongen, Teun Berserik, Christian Cailleaux and Jean Harambat.
