After studying physics and astrophysics at the University of Orsay, Richard Marazano turned to comic art and enrolled in the highly prestigious Angoulême Fine Arts workshop, then spent several years at the Sanzot workshop. His first album, Humain trop humain, illustrated by Éric Dérian, was published in 1995 by Le Cycliste. The following year, he collaborated with Christophe Bec to publish the first volume of the series Zéro absolu, through Soleil, with the next two volumes released in 1998 and 1999.
