Ralph Meyer

At the height of his artistry, Ralph Meyer is the leading figure in contemporary Western comics. With the Undertaker series, he has taken his place alongside the great masters of the genre—the very artists who inspired him, such as Jean Giraud with Blueberry and Jijé with Jerry Spring. His realistic style, steeped in the Franco-Belgian tradition, perfectly captures the scorching atmosphere of the American West, which he enhances with a light touch of humor. Admire the superb inking of his black-and-white panels, his hatching-heavy drawings, his stunning solid blacks and his bold panel layouts. This master of black and white is also a grand master of color, as demonstrated by his Undertaker covers and his previously unpublished acrylic illustrations.

Following the resounding success of the first Ralph Meyer auction in 2020, Daniel Maghen Auctions held a “white-glove” sale in 2025 featuring the Undertaker catalog, shattering its previous world record with the original page no. 1 from the first volume of the series (2015), estimated at €12,000 and sold for €81,763 including tax. The exceptional results of these auctions confirm the contemporary artist’s standing and rank him among the most sought-after on the market, even surpassing certain comic art classics.

To preserve your works on paper, we recommend that you never expose them to direct light, as UV rays can damage the mediums used. Paintings made with pastel or charcoal require special care to avoid rubbing. Works containing watercolor are particularly sensitive to light, unlike gouache and acrylic.
We advise you to display them away from windows, and to use frames made from pH-neutral conservation materials and “Museum” glass with anti-UV and anti-reflective treatment. If you prefer to keep your works unframed, we recommend storing them flat, in drawing cartons, with sheets of pH-neutral permanent paper in between. Keep them away from light and humidity.
