This retrospective will feature nearly 150 artworks by Jean-Pierre Gibrat, making this event the first major exhibition dedicated to the artist since 2018 outside of auction houses.
A major exhibition
The spotlight will be on the Mattéo series (published by Futuropolis), whose original color pages will adorn the gallery walls, notably those from the last two installments of the saga, volumes 5 and 6, which will be displayed in an art gallery for the first time, alongside rare artworks from his diptych Le Sursis.
For this exhibition, Jean-Pierre Gibrat pays tribute to his muses through some thirty artworks. Jeanne, Cécile, Amélie, the heroines of his albums, step out of the boxes and lend themselves to a series of delicate color portraits embodying sensuality, strength, and elegance.
Over the past 20 years, Jean-Pierre Gibrat has risen to the ranks of the great masters of the 9th Art. He is one of the most sought-after artists on the market thanks to his historical narratives imbued with humanity, his exceptional mastery of color, and his female characters whose charm and personality make them unforgettable.
Today, Jean-Pierre Gibrat's artwork is more vibrant than ever, focusing on the essential: light and sheer emotion.
